Welcome to the UK! Whenever you have a question about next-generation BI using QlikView, contact us!

Customer Spotlight: Gwent Police

Gwent Police cover an area of 600 square miles bounded by Abergavenny in the north, Newport in the south, Chepstow in the east and Caerphilly in the west. Realising that it’s existing performance management system was not capable of providing all information needed by various stakeholders, this municipal organisation’s HR function identified the need to centralise data management and analysis. With assistance from QlikTech partner SunGard Vivista Ltd. (see Partner Spotlight), Gwent Police found its solution with QlikView. Due to QlikView’s rapid implementation, ease of use, minimal training and capabilities to Simplify Analysis for Everyone, Gwent Police can make analysis available to 2,500 employees. Key benefits include:

  • Improved monitoring of staff performance at all levels
  • Improved Training Needs Analysis
  • Reduction in time required to collate statistical information (by automating processes)
  • Centralizing management information for analysis, eliminating the need to access several applications to obtain the required data
  • Improved Performance Development Review (PDR) reporting as future objectives can be set as a result of analyzing current performance data.
  • Improved quality of service to victims of crime, which helps to reinforce the public’s confidence in the Gwent Police Force.

Partner Spotlight: SunGard Vivista

SunGard Vivista Ltd. is one of the largest suppliers of IT systems to the UK Police and is part of the Sungard Group, a global leader in software processing solutions for financial services, higher education and the public sector. QlikTech have joined forces with Vivista to provide the user interface to their Local Nominal Index solution (LNI), the criminal data, which addresses some of the key issues as identified by Sir Michale Bichard’s Inquiry into the Soham murders. James Rens, Police Information Manager at Vivista, says “This application of QlikView will provide the police force with the real power and potential to ask questions from any perspective. Taking data from the Crime Recording and Criminal Intelligence Systems, QlikView associates the information so that one can ask questions about criminals and crimes from any perspective. QlikView enables the police to ask the last question first – that is incredibly powerful."
