Customer Spotlight: Region Skåne Region Skåne is a public body for the southernmost region of Sweden, responsible for health, medical and dental services, as well as other community interests, such as the development of trade and industry, public transport and cultural attractions. Region Skåne employs approximately 33,000 people. Most are associated with the nine hospitals, Primary Care Skåne and Public Dental Care Skåne that Region Skåne manages. In April 2008, Region Skåne increased their relationship with QlikTech to include a flexible number of QlikView licenses, for use as a management information tool, for analysis of pharmaceutical costs, to measure the availability of healthcare, and other applications. QlikView is not new to Region Skåne, with four success stories already documented: - Intensive Care Units (ICU) have deployed QlikView to 450 employees to analyze patient information, waiting times, diagnoses, treatments, operations, and benchmarks--all for purposes of improving the quality and efficiency of patient care.
- Habilitation and Assistive Technology Services has deployed QlikView to 100 employees in order to improve operational efficiencies and performance. QlikView provides users with operational visibility and quick, easy-to-understand interpretation of data integrated from six operational systems through associative visual analysis and presentation.
- The Eye Clinic is one of many units within Malmö University Hospital (UMAS) that uses QlikView. Integrated analysis and reporting of data from patient and hospital resource systems has enabled the clinic’s 50 QlikView users to optimize resource utilization and reduce patient wait times from years to weeks.
- Helsingborg Hospital, one of Region Skåne’s four emergency care facilities, turned to QlikView to improve its analysis, reporting and management of information from its numerous hospital systems. Another of the region’s hospitals in Ängelholm uses QlikView for its business analysis as well.
The total number of QlikView across Region Skåne continues to increase substantially, which moved decision makers to upgrade their agreement with QlikTech. “We expect the number of users to grow even more,” says Per Wendel, controller at the region’s Operations Planning and Analysis Centre. “Using QlikView, one can easily view the information from several different angles. We are very pleased with the results that we achieved. QlikView is now a proven solution within the region that is worthy of imitation by our other facilities.” Partner Spotlight: TietoEnator Media Solutions Quick Interview with Jens Holmström, Product Manager QlikNews: Tell us about your company.

The company holds a leading position as a full-scale IT services provider in its home market in the Nordic countries and in the Baltic Region. TietoEnator’s leadership hinges on customer intimacy, knowledge of our customers’ industries and robust expertise in managing wide-scale changes in business and IT. We work with many internationally leading companies and grow in step with them in their main markets. QlikNews: How does TietoEnator use QlikView?
Holmström: TietoEnator Telecom & Media developed a product named Business Analyser that is based on the QlikView technology. Business Analyser is an add-on to our own Cross-advertising system which is software that we provide to media houses throughout Europe. QlikNews: What led to the discovery of QlikView? Holmström: We discerned that media houses faced competition in the advertising market from new players and channels, which increased the importance of continuously updating knowledge of the sales situation, customer profitability as well as follow-up on the sales force. Therefore we saw the need for developing a powerful and immediate calculation tool that also would minimize customers’ time and analysis cost. QlikNews: Why did you choose to be ‘Powered by QlikView’?
Holmström: QlikView’s in-memory technology makes our Business Analyser fast and flexible. The advantages for our customers are many. They experience enormous cost savings both for time and resources since complex analysis can be made directly by the end user. Another advantage is that end users require no training and enjoy clicking through the application. QlikNews: What does QlikView mean to your business?
Holmström: We have created a user friendly product Powered by QlikView that provides our customers with quick answers regarding business analysis, resulting in a very competitive solution!
